For a long time, I hedged my bets.
I would take on several projects at once, thinking I was being smart by having Plan A, B, and C running simultaneously.
I was good at each, but none of them truly flourished. I was playing it safe, afraid of putting all my energy into one path.
It was scary to think about going all-in, but here’s what I learned: when you spread yourself too thin, nothing gets the attention it needs to thrive.
The more you hedge your bets, the more you dilute your potential. So, I stopped diversifying my energy and started doubling down on what mattered most.
When I fully committed to one path, I found something surprising—the odds of success were actually much higher.
And the fear of “losing it all”? That turned out to be a source of accountability. It kept me focused and driven toward my goals.
Why Diversification Works… Until It Doesn’t
If you’ve explored investments, you’ve likely heard about diversification.
It’s a strategy to manage risk by spreading investments across various assets, increasing your chances of gaining a return.
If investments A, B, and C underperform, but D, E, and F do well, you can still come out ahead.
But here’s the thing they don’t tell you:
- When outcomes are out of your control, diversify.
- When outcomes are within your control, double down.
When you’re betting on yourself—your capacity, capital, and capabilities—spreading your energy too thin across multiple projects weakens your efforts.
Think about investing in a company where the team is distracted by ten different things. Would you trust that company to thrive?
That’s where the power of doubling down comes in.
"If I’m betting on myself, then I completely double down."
— J. Cole
When you commit fully to a path, the universe has a way of aligning with your efforts. And if it doesn’t work out? You can always pivot. But start with the courage to choose one direction, not five.
The Real Investment is in Yourself
Investing is the most influential skill you’ll ever learn.
Yet, you can go from kindergarten to a PhD and never learn how to truly invest—in yourself. Most people think stocks, crypto, or real estate when they hear “investing,” but in a nutshell: investing is about making use of today for future benefit.
Yet many of us trade future gains for present comfort.
It’s hard to give up the steady paycheck.
It’s tough to leave the comfort of home.
It’s even harder to part from a relationship that’s “just good enough.”
But why should your intention choose you if you don’t choose it? It wouldn’t align with the law of reciprocity—what you focus on grows.
This year, we invested in the foundation for our future:
- We got married and created shared legal and financial structures.
- We conceived our first child in the surf town where we met.
- We visually rebranded and built a scalable offer ecosystem.
- And most importantly, we cleared away distractions that didn’t align with our vision.
It wasn’t easy. It required real commitment. But that’s the point of investing: delaying gratification for a future that’s truly worth it.
Upgrading Your Operating System
Yesterday, we kicked off our 10-day challenge, and it’s been inspiring to see everyone come together, rising and thriving as one.
Today marks Day 1 of our morning and evening practice—a bold step in reclaiming control over our attention in a world full of distractions.
As stewards of higher consciousness, it’s our responsibility to live in alignment with the values we wish to see more of in the world.
But let’s be real—it’s not easy.
Our ancient neurology, modern technology, and capitalist economy all combine to challenge our personal sovereignty. That’s why we’re reclaiming it—together.
If you missed yesterday’s workshop, you can watch the replay inside of our community space. We covered:
- Why now is the best (and hardest) time to build a life of purpose.
- The battle for your attention and how leaky energy drains your potential.
- Routines as the most powerful force shaping your life.
Additionally, you'll find Day 1 of our Design Your Day course, plus limited-time offers announced on the kickoff available for the duration of the challenge.
I'd strongly suggest checking it out. It's not to late to join in on the fun.
With love and gratitude,
